Obama makes April play in October
by WonkoKevin
As Craig Crawford has pointed out, it’s great that Barack Obama is trying hard to distinguish himself from Hillary Clinton, but it’s about six months too late. The three top Democratic candidates have been largely stuck at the same Wonkosphere buzz share level for the past two weeks–Clinton at 40%, Obama at 25%, and Edwards at 20% (amongst liberal bloggers). This portends no immediate change in poll numbers, and for Obama and Edwards, months have now turned into weeks. In an NPR interview, Obama said, “I opposed this war from the start and Senator Clinton did not,” but that’s been the pitch for the last month. There seems little doubt to me that if Obama has any chance to win the primaries, he will have to throw away his chance to be VP.
